Isaac 32 month update

Isaac, 32 months now, had a great time this month visiting and playing with family and friends! He got to meet his first 1st cousin, baby Lexi. We are so excited she made it into this world safely, and are thankful for her. She is precious! Isaac also got to visit with Uncle G and Auntie M, Uncle Eric and Aunt Stephanie, all his grandparents, Aunt Joy from Texas, and good family friend Jacky this month.

Isaac has been crying some when I drop him off at daycare. It may have something to do with him realizing that I am pregnant, but I am not sure. Sometimes he seems to like the baby and be excited about him. For example, he will kiss my belly or pat my belly and say "it's okay baby." On the other hand, I am not sure he exactly understands how fragile his baby brother will be at first. He says he is going to put the baby in his Tonka truck and push him around. He also says "I will throw him up, but I will catch him." I think he thinks he is going to have an instant playmate, rather than a baby brother.

Isaac seems to be learning so much right now. It's like he is a little sponge, soaking up everything he sees and hears. He is learning his letters at school. When he sees a letter somewhere he will say "that's an A for Amelia, a L for Levi, T for Tay, D for Dhavid, K for Kaylee Wilson, I for Isaac, etc." Isaac likes to "read" books from memory. He really enjoys nursery rhymes, such as "Baa Baa Black Sheep" and "Hickory Dickory Dock." He has also learned the words to "God Bless America." At chapel at his daycare, they say the Pledge of Allegiance then go into singing "God Bless America" so Isaac always likes to do it in that order at home too. He has also learned the response of saying "I shared" when he is asked what he did at school.

Isaac is definitely particular about things these days. I bought a new bedspread for his big bed (which by the way, he sleeps in very well). I thought he would be so excited, but instead, he just started crying. When I asked him what was wrong, he said he wanted his "brown one," which was our old bedspread. Oh well, it saved us some money anyway. Another thing he is particular about is that he always wants to wear jeans. He wants to put on jeans and his tennis shoes the second he wakes up. He also likes to wear his sunglasses. Finally, he is particular about his slide being clean. If he sees the smallest amount of bird poop, he has to come inside, get a damp rag, and then goes back out to wipe it off.

Isaac wants so badly to be independent. He tells me multiple times a day "I do it." He wants to try things himself first, which I encourage! I want him as independent as possible before the little brother arrives. He is sleeping very well in his big boy bed and has done a really good job of pooping in the potty! Amen! It is amazing how motivated he is to poopy in the potty for Starbursts.

Isaac's favorite thing to say is "watch this" or "do this." He loves attention and loves to be imitated. Isaac loves to roar like a tiger. He always wants to be the big tiger and someone else to be the little tiger. One day at Chick Fila while playing in the play area, he was being a "tiger" and roaring at all the girls. Sometimes he can be embarrassing in public because he likes to say "oohhh yuck" or "that's yucky" or "he's scary." Unfortunately, it seems he always says these things about food people give him or new people he meets. I guess we need to keep working on learning manners. He has randomly started saying "yep" this month, rather than yes. This is something else we are working on correcting before it becomes a bad habit. He also says "okay" is a funny voice, that cannot hardly describe. It is almost like saying the word okay in a whiny voice.

Isaac went to the dentist this month. He actually did pretty well. He let the hygienist clean his teeth in the "big chair." He needed a little encouragement, but did not cry. I declined X-rays for him this time. He got a good dental report! It amazes me that he actually lets me floss and brush his teeth without too much resistance. I am so thankful for that!

Isaac loves playing outside. He especially enjoys swinging, playing in the sandbox, and playing with his neighbor Caroline! He also likes to dance...especially in the mirror so he can see what he looks like in action. He enjoys making faces in the mirror and laughs at himself. Isaac enjoys playing with his Mommy's hair, doing forward rolls, playing with toy dinosaurs, putting together Mr. Potato head (in particular, he likes to wear Mr. Potato head's glasses), and taking baths. In the bathtub, he wants me to make "big hair" or "wild hair" (which is basically just his hair spiked up and/or messed up as much as possible). When he first gets in the bath, he says "I'm a naked boy." Then after his bath, he wants me to lay on him to get him warm.
