Isaac is 22 months old, and had such a great time on his first trip to the ocean. We went to Orange Beach, AL for a week where we met up with Grandad and Mimi, Grampie and Grandmama, Uncle Eric and Aunt Stephanie, and the Orton family. Isaac had many first experiences while on vacation. First of all, he was not sure what to think about the beach. His first steps onto the sand, he just kind of stood there. He wanted to keep his beach shoes on though. Once he got used to the sand, he loved playing in it. He loved playing with his shovel and bucket. He seemed a little apprehensive to be near the ocean without holding onto someone, so he would just send someone to get water in his buckets. If he was standing where the waves would hit his feet, he wanted to be held, because he did not seem to like how he felt unsteady when the waves took the sand out from under his feet. However, he definitely seemed to enjoy the ocean when he was being held or on a float. He was fascinated by the waves!

Isaac loved the pool. He was a little nervous to jump in the pool at first, but once he got used to it, he was fearless. He would even try to jump in where I was not because he wanted to be independent. Another first was that he put his face under water. I thought he might not like this, but he would just hold his nose and put his face in without hesitation! Isaac also enjoyed running around in the baby pool. He spend a lot of time just pushing around trucks in the baby pool and throwing diving sticks. I was so impressed that Isaac was cooperative and wore his beach shoes and hat the majority of the time. I was thankful that he did not get burned either!

Isaac really had fun in the condo too! It was huge, and there was a large hallway where he could just run and push his trucks. He did have an obscession with the cooler. He constantly wanted to be sitting in it or pushing/pulling it. He was the same way with the luggage carts.

Isaac's favorite restaurant we went to on vacation was Lambert's Cafe (home of the throwed rolls). Isaac was so good there and enjoyed all the stimulation around him. Outside the restaurant there was a little train he could walk around in and a mechanical horse he could ride. He was definitely entertained and enjoyed it!

On our trip, Isaac started to say everyone's names more. He was especially fascinated by John. He really liked playing with John and would just scream out "John." He also started saying other's names like Becca ("beh-a"). Isaac had so much fun with his family! While on the trip he realized that Jenny was not there, and he asked "Jenny Go?" Then he said "Sophie at Jenny's." It was so funny that he was concerned about this on vacation, and randomly came up with the thought that Jenny was not with us on vacation.

One morning, Grampie, Grandmama, and I took Isaac out to the beach for a photo shoot. I wanted some good pictures of him. He enjoyed picking up shells and walking on the beach. He was so good, and did not seem to mind being barefoot. Well then later in the trip with had a big family picture night. I was really wanting to get some pictures of Daddy, Mommy, and Isaac walking along the shoreline, and Isaac just had a fit. As it turned out, he wanted his shoes on, and was not going to cooperate until he had his shoes on his feet. It was really a big deal to him at the time!

We had a wonderful, relaxing, low-key vacation. We played in the pool, in the ocean, built sand castles, played horseshoes and bocchi ball, grilled out by the pool, and had some good conversation! We had a blast and are so thankful for our family! Isaac had such a great time that ever since we got back home he has said "More, More beach"!!!
