Christmas 2010

We had a wonderful Christmas, celebrating the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ!

Isaac was a part of two Christmas programs, one at his daycare and one at Grandad and Mimi's church. He was an angel in the church program, and cooperated very well. Isaac also got to attend a Christmas program at our local church. He was really interested in watching the actors, singing, and dancing. However, his favorite part was the little girl angel who appeared in the play. After her part was over, he repetitively said "I want to see the angel again." We tried to use these plays, books, and the manager scene to help Isaac understand that the true meaning of Christmas was all about Jesus, and His birth, not us. When asked who's birthday it was, Isaac would say Jesus. Even though he doesn't understand it all; at least it's a start in his understanding about Jesus.

We were able to spend some time with both families this year, which was great! We had a delicious Christmas meal and had lots of fun with our families. The Vandenbrinks were able to join us this year, so that made it even more special! John, Rebecca, and Mary were also able to come in for Christmas. Since Isaac did not see them at Thanksgiving, that was fun too! Of course, Isaac received a ton of gifts and loved every minute of it. He loved all the attention, gifts/toys, and seeing the family. He jumped up and down and said "presents!"He loved opening gifts and also enjoyed helping to open other people's gifts. He especially loves his grandparents! Oh course, he is not spoiled at all!

There were a couple big announcements made in my family this Christmas. Aunt Jane announced that she was going to be a grandmother, by showing us all some onesies that John and Rebecca gave her for Christmas! How exciting! Since we were on the topic, my Mom lifted up Isaac's shirt, to expose a short-sleeve shirt that said Big Brother Isaac! Our baby and the Orton baby will only be about a month apart. With three new babies (Baby Whitley, Coats, and Orton) next year at Christmas, it will be interesting. Debbie announced the news to the Wallace extended family right before we ate our Christmas meal! We will have two new babies (since Greg and Mandy are due in March) in their family next year. It's awesome to see our family grow!

One of the most special parts about this year's Christmas was singing at Gran's (Dot's house). She was unable to get out to join us for our meal, so we all piled in her house and sang her Christmas carols. It was a very special time for our family!

This Christmas was a white one, and the snow was beautiful! Snow covered scenery always reminds me of how great God is, and there was no better time to witness God's beauty than Christmas! How thankful I am that He sent His Son into the world, to live a perfect life, and die on the cross for my sins as a substitute for what I deserve....death! Oh, how He loves each of us! Happy Birthday Jesus, and thank you!
